Helping 100+ clients achieving their career goals!
My name is Claudia and I studied Economics in my home country (Portugal) and Spain. After working for four years in Lisbon, I decided to move to London without a job. I have been living here since 2012. I used to say that I was fortunate enough to have found a job within one month but, a couple of years ago, I realised I was not ‘lucky’ in the pure sense of it. When I stumbled upon the sentence “luck is preparation waiting for an opportunity” it got me thinking. In fact, why was I so ‘lucky’ to find a job so fast in a country where I never worked or studied before, and where I barely knew anyone? The reality is that I had laid the foundations for it to happen, without even noticing it.
What potentially differentiates me from other career coaches is the fact that I have tested my methodology on myself. Sometimes there is a disconnection between recruiters and hiring managers. Having been on both sides I am able to bridge that gap for you. In 11 years, I have increased my income six-fold and gained a hiring manager's viewpoint. I know the perspective of someone that is looking for a new challenge but also of the person that has the final say. From early on in my career, I had the opportunity to lead small teams and manage multi-million-pound projects. With just 8 years’ experience, I was given the chance to manage a team of ~20 people scattered across 5 countries, including people managers. I was part of the leadership team in the Digital Workplace department for a large global corporation (100,000+ employees), where I was the only woman and the youngest by 15 years.
The majority of my career was spent in a male-dominated world, which had its challenges. From the outside, being a woman may seem like an advantage nowadays, but don’t get fooled by it. It still requires a lot of resilience, stamina, perseverance, and, above all, be able to swallow my pride (which is very hard for me 😊).
When I arrived in London, I had no idea what the recruiting market looked like, I didn’t know anyone, had no network of friends or colleagues. I am not going to lie, it was hard! But that gave me the strength to go on and learn as much as I could. I spent 18 months laser-focused studying, reading, networking, analysing… I wish I knew then what I know now. I never stopped investigating how I could get even better. This took a lot of effort, self-discipline, motivation, and tears. And that knowledge is what I can offer you. The lessons I have learnt here can be applied anywhere. I won’t tell you self-help ready-made clichés. I will actually give you tough love!
